GoPro Charges Through Winter Action with the 2012 Marquee Event Sponsorship Lineup

GoPro Creating Epic Content and Providing Course Previews for Television Broadcasts of Winter X Games Aspen, Winter Dew Tour, Winter Teva Mountain Games and USSA Series.

HALF MOON BAY, CA (January 25, 2012) – GoPro is heating up the slopes for the 2012 premier winter events by sponsoring the Winter X Games Aspen, the Winter Dew Tour and the US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). The maker of the world’s most versatile camera, GoPro, will be producing exclusive videos for online and television broadcasts including GoPro course previews that provide viewers with unique athlete perspectives of the events’ most challenging competitions. GoPro will also be onsite at these events with fun activities for the fans.

“These events represent the pinnacle for winter sports not only for the athletes participating but also for the people watching. We will be bringing the fun and magic of the GoPro brand to the fans whether you’re at the mountain or watching from home,” said Paul Crandell, Vice President of Marketing for GoPro.

GoPro will collaborate with ESPN for the 2012 Winter X Games Aspen (January 26 – 29) to produce course previews for the television broadcasts of the X Games and create highlight reels for the X Center show airing each evening. The GoPro team will use a variety of equipment such as a camera array composed of an incredible 60 HD HERO2 cameras, custom mounts as well as remote control helicopters to capture one-of-a-kind shots that are sure to amaze the viewing audience. Exclusive videos will also appear on GoPro’s X Games video channel at //de.gopro.com/videos/xgames and on YouTube at http://youtube.com/gopro.

In addition to producing X Games content, the GoPro team will be around town and on the mountain for the “Play to Win” contest. Look for the GoPro crew for your chance to play and win one of the coolest prizes at X Games, perhaps even better than winning a gold medal.

This winter also marks GoPro’s first time sponsoring the US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) series along with GoPro returning to sponsor the Winter Dew Tour 2011-12. Both events, will feature GoPro course previews for televised broadcasts and GoPro will create online videos showcasing standout athletes from each event. The GoPro team will also be onsite at the final Winter Dew Tour stop in Ogden, Utah on February 9th through 12th with the GoPro “Play to Win” contest for the fans in attendance.

GoPro will also be sponsoring the inaugural Teva Winter Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer happening in Vail from February 9th through 12th. The event will feature an impressive year-one prize purse of $60,000, while also allowing amateur weekend warriors the opportunity to toe the starting line with some of the best professional winter competitors in the world.
